What Are North American Retrievers

There is a new breed of dogs and they are North American Retrievers. The North American Retrievers are a second generation cross breed of what is commonly known as goldendoodles. In order to breed for North American Retrievers in a simplified explanation you breed a goldendoodle female with a male poodle and the result are North American Retrievers puppies. The goldendoodles are achieved by breeding a standard poodle with a golden retriever so in essence the North American Retrievers are approximately one third golden retriever and two thirds poodle. Some people are affectionately refering to them as double doodles. To be registered North American Retrievers will be slightly more technical in nature but for the layman this is an adequate explanation.

Why Own North American Retrievers

What are the benefits of owning North American Retrievers? It is possible that North American Retrievers are not the right dogs for you. On the other hand there are some incredible character traits of this breed of dogs that make it an outstanding choice for a lot of people.
First and foremost is the attribute of North American Retrievers that make them a good pet for people who have strong allergies. The fact that they are cross bred with a double input of poodle makes them almost hypo-allergenic. No animal can ever actually be hypo-allergenic regardless of how much breeding and how little hair they have or how little they shed. However, North American Retrievers are as close as you can get with a breed of dogs.
Secondly, North American Retrievers have a wonderful personality. Some of you might be thinking that just going with a poodle would be the best answer and for poodle lovers that would be true, but many of us have found that poodles are high strung and irritable. The personality of the golden retriever comes through in a huge way in goldendoodles in general and especially in North American Retrievers. Each North American Retrievers puppy has its own personality, some being completely laid back and some being fun loving and energetic, but all of them have the easy going charismatic nature of the Golden Retrievers.
